This competition is the only scratch competition in the society calendar. As the names implies, the Cup is contested by reference to scratch scores; no handicaps are applicable. The winner is awarded the Scratch Cup; the best finisher over the age of 50 wins the Silver Medal. The competition has been scheduled in 2024 to coincide with the start of preparations for the 2025 Halford Hewitt and places will be available for the best finishers in those preparations. However this does not guarantee a place in the Hewitt team.
The competition will be held in 2024 at Walton Heath.
There is a limit on the number of entries that can be accepted. Places will be allocated based on the applicant’s handicap, and the date on which they register interest in playing. Lower handicaps and early applications will get priority. There will be a waiting list, in case of late withdrawals.
It is not possible yet to provide a firm price for the event, although it is expected to be in the region of £55. Younger members may be able to obtain support from the society towards their costs.
Applications may be made either by email to the Secretary or by using the society website. However you will not be able to pay using the website; payment will probably be made on the day of the competition.
